Narrative:
Filed: oak Candle3 cisco flw lax bayvu 4. Cpdlc: cleared route clearance maintain 10;000 ft lt 270 degrees. We hit the 'load' and the route read: segul cyprs mckay lax bayvu 4. We changed it back to the original filed route but we were then told by ATC that it was the wrong route. Traffic was light and there was no conflicting traffic issues. Language on the cpdlc needs to be more clear.

Narrative: Filed: OAK Candle3 CISCO FLW LAX BAYVU 4. CPDLC: Cleared Route Clearance Maintain 10;000 ft LT 270 degrees. We hit the 'Load' and the route read: SEGUL CYPRS MCKAY LAX BAYVU 4. We changed it back to the original filed route but we were then told by ATC that it was the wrong route. Traffic was light and there was no conflicting traffic issues. Language on the CPDLC needs to be more clear.
