Narrative:

1. We landed from completing a checkride.2. FAA safety inspector ask that I perform a rejected takeoff as the pilot flying (PF) before taxiing back to the FBO.3. We are cleared for takeoff on runway 1. At approximately 90 KIAS the pilot monitoring (pm) shouts 'abort abort abort'. Memory items accomplished per published procedure and maximum reverse thrust applied; (elevated noise environment) pm is calling out speeds and distance remaining at elevated voice level. 4. Somewhere in all this noise and procedure tower advises to exit left at delta. I do not hear this instruction; yet it was later confirmed that pm did and acknowledged; although denied that this instruction was given or accepted until he heard this recording.5. I began a turn to the right since this is the direction to our [hangar]; but stop on the runway due to a hold short line separating us from runway 3. ATC trainee instructs us to taxi across runway 3 without delay. Pm keys mic to acknowledge. I expedite because I am aware of [another aircraft] on short final that was initially inbound to runway 1.6. When pm releases mic switch; controller instructor is screaming for us to stop stop stop. I aggressively apply brakes to a stop. Pm looks to the right and sees [the inbound aircraft] nearing touchdown on runway 3. [The inbound aircraft] was never given a go around instruction.7. Because we had been told to taxi across runway 3 without delay; we had now crossed the hold short line.8. Tower instructor advised us of possible runway incursion and asked us to call tower.human factors...during a rejected takeoff is a terrible time to be given alternate instructions. It is an extremely busy workload for both pilots.corrective actions...1. This particular intersection D between runway 1 and runway 3 is this airports most critical hotspot. It should be removed and grass planted.2. When giving an alternate instruction that goes against the routine right turn that we have always done when landing this direction; it would engage the crew with an explanation why we were to turn away from our [parking spot].

Title: Captain reported rejecting a takeoff at 90 knots as part of a checkride requirement on Runway 1 at MKC. The reporter is issued a left turn on Taxiway D by the Tower trainee; which he does not hear and attempts to turn right as usual. He is then given an expedite across Runway 3 which the Tower Instructor countermands. The hold short line is crossed before stopping.
