Narrative:
Ewn radio gave us our clearance back to raleigh, nc with a void time of XX27. It was XX24 and we were ready to go. On the taxi-out to runway 4 from the terminal I listened for other aircraft in the pattern. From what I recall no one was in the pattern. Ewn released us to go. I taxied onto the runway. After our rotation I heard a small small aircraft say he was going around. As I looked back passing through 1500' the small aircraft was turning crosswind for runway 4. I recall looking on final but seeing no one. A control tower would have prevented this occurrence.
