Narrative:

We were cleared for a visibility to land on runway 31 at crp. We unintentionally landed on 35. Approached the airport from the north, entered downwind at 2000' with a left turn onto final. There was a cloud layer at about 1500' about 5 mi south of the airport. In trying to avoid clouds and stay visibility picked up the wrong runway 40 degrees off heading and in the same geographical position and landed on it. It was well it and looked plenty long. I could've prevented this by x-chking my heading more closely. The copilot noticed as we were rolling out at about 30 KTS that the heading was 350 degrees and asked the tower operator whether he noticed us landing on 35 vs 31. The tower said yes, we looked like we were lined up for 35, but he didn't want to bother us. Having the lights out for the wrong runway would've prevented this.

Title: ACR MLG LANDS WRONG RWY AT CRP.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FOR A VIS TO LAND ON RWY 31 AT CRP. WE UNINTENTIONALLY LANDED ON 35. APCHED THE ARPT FROM THE N, ENTERED DOWNWIND AT 2000' WITH A LEFT TURN ONTO FINAL. THERE WAS A CLOUD LAYER AT ABOUT 1500' ABOUT 5 MI S OF THE ARPT. IN TRYING TO AVOID CLOUDS AND STAY VIS PICKED UP THE WRONG RWY 40 DEGS OFF HDG AND IN THE SAME GEOGRAPHICAL POS AND LANDED ON IT. IT WAS WELL IT AND LOOKED PLENTY LONG. I COULD'VE PREVENTED THIS BY X-CHKING MY HDG MORE CLOSELY. THE COPLT NOTICED AS WE WERE ROLLING OUT AT ABOUT 30 KTS THAT THE HDG WAS 350 DEGS AND ASKED THE TWR OPERATOR WHETHER HE NOTICED US LNDG ON 35 VS 31. THE TWR SAID YES, WE LOOKED LIKE WE WERE LINED UP FOR 35, BUT HE DIDN'T WANT TO BOTHER US. HAVING THE LIGHTS OUT FOR THE WRONG RWY WOULD'VE PREVENTED THIS.
