Narrative:

[We were flying] the lendy six arrival into frg. We were not given descend via; they were verbally giving us descent clearances. We were told to cross jenno at FL230 which we did. In between jenno and stw we were told to cross lendy at FL190/250KTS. About 5 miles past stw we started descending for our restriction at lendy. It was a completely smooth ride on the descent through FL220; when all of a sudden the plane violently banked left followed by a violent bank to the right and severe turbulence. [The captain] grabbed the yoke with both hands and pushed the ap disconnect. This all happened simultaneously between the first bank to the left and the second bank to the right. The yd disengaged itself and the autopilot as well. [The captain] stabilized the aircraft and reengaged the yd; navigation mode and ap on the FGC. I advised ATC immediately about the event and asked [the captain] if she want[ed] me to talk with the passengers and check if everyone was alright and they all said they were. ATC informed us that it could possibly be the 747 we were following and asked if there were any injuries. The controller told us the distance of the 747 in front of us about 12 miles. Not sure what we could have done differently.
