Narrative:
I was the pilot monitoring. This flight was dispatched using MEL 21-40 for the inop left pack. [In flight]; the ca left the flight deck to use the lav. While he was in the back; I noticed the cabin altitude on the lower ECAM was flashing amber. I believe it was around 7000-7200 at this point. I immediately asked ATC for lower. As I initiated a descent; I observed the cabin altitude continuing to climb. At this point the captain returned; and as he returned to his seat we received a red cabin altitude warning on the ECAM. We continued the emergency descent to 10;000 feet. We complied with all ECAM and QRH procedures and continued without incident.
