Aircraft was just south of salisbury, md VOR when center offered and captain accepted a clearance direct to ormond VOR, fl. I suggested we would be too far offshore for an airplane without rafts. He told me that he would make that decision. Approximately 100 NM later, center offered and captain accepted a clearance direct to pbi. I again said I thought we would be too far offshore. Captain again made a rude remark. Our actual distance offshore increased to 80-90 mi at furthest point.
