Narrative:

Our aircraft was given clearance to climb and maintain FL310 (for crossing traffic). Our final requested cruise altitude was FL350. Once receiving instructions to climb to FL350; we encountered wake turbulence at approximately 31300 ft MSL. The westbound direction of the crossing traffic (at FL320) had a path that was approximately 70 to 90 degrees to our northbound flight path. Horizontal aircraft separation is estimated to be 10 miles or greater. The encounter was startling and over very quickly. No significant change to indicated vertical speed was noticed and no dislodging of cabin items or occupants occurred. The location of this wake turbulence encounter is in close proximity to where handling by three ATC facilities meet (kansas city; denver; and minneapolis).
