Narrative:
I had just left my assignment in time to run down the jet bridge and meet [the aircraft]. The ramp advised me to raise the jet bridge and I noticed that the plane was a dreamliner. They gave me the go ahead and I glanced at the sign that said 'L1 door dreamliner'. I started to try and put the bridge on the L1 door but it would not fit. I tried for about 2 or 3 min before a ramp guy yelled at me and pointed. I saw a push back tug under the jet bridge but I never heard a collision or felt one. I thought he wanted me to watch it. So I kept driving. Then the lead yelled and said 'L2 door for the 900'. I never knew the plane was a 900; the ramp did not tell me before driving; ops did not tell me on its arrival and I never had time to look before running to the assignment. I only glanced at the sign which said 'L1 door' and started driving. I only knew I had hit the push back tug when management came to the area.
