Narrative:
On descent to ZZZ captain was calling ops over the #2 radio. When he transmits; the number one radio cannot hear ATC instructions. This happened 2x during the arrival phase at 13000 feet 50 miles from ZZZ. ATC issued an instruction and I could not hear them due to the other pilot transmitting on the other radio. This should never happen on any airplane; but is common in the embraer phenom 300.
