Narrative:
Had loss of oil pressure on left engine 20 miles north of [departure airport]. I requested a turn back to north airport; the oil kept dropping; I was getting some power out of the engine; but I brought the power back a bit. On my descent the engine was generating power; on short final to the runway I got some smoke out of the left engine. Landed safely and taxied into the ramp.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: The pilot of a twin engine Cessna aircraft reported losing oil pressure in the left engine. The engine was still generating power; however the pilot elected to return to the originating airport; where he landed successfully.
