Narrative:

After taxi out of the gate at gunnison airport, we stopped in 'hold short' position of runway 6-24. #1 radio was tuned to 122.7 (unicom) #2 radio to 127.8 (denver center). We heard airlines large transport saying to denver center 'expecting clearance at 40'. It was xx:33 pm large transport was in position 'hold short' of runway 24, and he was not moving! Since the wind was calm, we elected runway 6 for takeoff, with intention to pick up clearance in the air. I made a radio call on unicom frequency saying 'back taxi on runway 6 for departure at gunnison'. We did not hear any response from large transport jet and we assumed he was waiting for the clearance (8 more mins). After we got the position and hold at runway 6 we saw large transport jet on the turnaround at the end of runway 24, but facing away from the runway. I made another call saying '... Departing runway 6 at gunnison' we did not hear any response again, when we called our operation at gunnison, the agent told us, unicom did not hear us making a radio call. After landing at denver, chief pilot took us to the director of operation for explanation.
