Narrative:
As PIC, I checked with customs in raleigh, and an FAA WX briefer in raleigh, about the necessary requirement for a flight to the bahamas. No one informed me about a 'hard copy of my registration.' I had recently purchased the plane and was flying on the pink sheet. Upon arrival back into the states, I was informed I was in violation of an far regulation. Since this was my first time out of the states, I was unaware of this fact. I feel that one of the agencies should have informed me, or there should be some kind of pamphlet to explain these rules and list what is required for such a flight.
