Narrative:

My clearance was willow run 8 departure, vectors to boshm intersection, jxn, lfd, direct ggp. Upon departure I was given 'fly runway heading.' after contacting departure on 118.95, I was told to maintain 5000' and to intercept the 280 1 degree det radial on 300 degree heading. I climbed to 5000' and turned northwest to 300 degrees. I then inadvertently flew through the radial, and a few mi to the north of it. Just as I had detected the error and cause, ATC called and said I was well north of the radial and to turn to 240 degree heading to reintercept. I did this and the flight was uneventful from that point on.
