Narrative:

Out of [an international airport]; during the climb phase; we were cleared to 7000 feet. [When] first officer started leveling off; we encountered wake turbulence from aircraft ahead; which caused us to very briefly bust the altitude by approximately 300 feet. Immediate action was taken to level back to 7000. Departure control verified altitude with us again; but [we] had no time to advise of wake turbulence since ATC was very busy at that time. Better ATC separation between the flight path of small corporate jets and heavy commercial ones is needed in this airspace.
