Narrative:

Aircraft was on the profile descent into lax and was subsequently cleared for an is 25L approach. From the time the initial ATIS information was received until T/D, at least 5 different special observations were transmitted by the tower re: the RVR on runway 25L. We commenced our approach based on WX information transmitted just prior to intercepting the ILS G/south and resulted in an uneventful landing and rollout. In this case, the tower was transmitting so much information in a brief span of time that it resulted in some confusion in the cockpit re: minimums and status of checklists. I felt that the tower was attempting to cover themselves to a point where their xmissions were a detriment instead of an asset.

Narrative: ACFT WAS ON THE PROFILE DSCNT INTO LAX AND WAS SUBSEQUENTLY CLRED FOR AN IS 25L APCH. FROM THE TIME THE INITIAL ATIS INFO WAS RECEIVED UNTIL T/D, AT LEAST 5 DIFFERENT SPECIAL OBSERVATIONS WERE XMITTED BY THE TWR RE: THE RVR ON RWY 25L. WE COMMENCED OUR APCH BASED ON WX INFO XMITTED JUST PRIOR TO INTERCEPTING THE ILS G/S AND RESULTED IN AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG AND ROLLOUT. IN THIS CASE, THE TWR WAS XMITTING SO MUCH INFO IN A BRIEF SPAN OF TIME THAT IT RESULTED IN SOME CONFUSION IN THE COCKPIT RE: MINIMUMS AND STATUS OF CHKLISTS. I FELT THAT THE TWR WAS ATTEMPTING TO COVER THEMSELVES TO A POINT WHERE THEIR XMISSIONS WERE A DETRIMENT INSTEAD OF AN ASSET.
