Narrative:

Ground control cleared me to taxi to my parking area. I was following my clearance to taxi and approximately 600' down the taxiway my aircraft was caught in a jet blast produced by an aircraft testing its engines in a run-up area. The force of the jet blast caused excessive lateral force on the left main gear of my aircraft causing it to collapse. I was alone in the aircraft and there were no injuries or fire. Damage to my aircraft is estimated to be between $5000 to $6000. When my aircraft came to a stop, it was still on the taxiway, upright and turned approximately 80 degree to the left of the taxiway heading. I shut down the engine and informed ground control of the incident, asked that they call my FBO for assistance and said that I was exiting the aircraft. I received no acknowledgement from ground control. I turned off all switches and exited the aircraft. The FBO jacked up the left side of the aircraft, repositioned the gear, safety wired it in place and towed it to their hangar. During taxi the run-up area was directly toward the setting sun, and I saw the jet momentarily before entering its blast. No warning was given to me by ground control. The aircraft doing the run-up was in contact with ground control and was not asked to reduce power. The jet crew had an outside observer in touch with the cockpit, however, he did not warn the crew of my approach. I am informed that this is not a reportable accident to the NTSB and no report has been made to them. The run-up area is situated at right angles to the taxiway and this incident could have been prevented by closing the taxiway while large aircraft are performing run-ups. If not closed, ground control should instruct the run-up aircraft to reduce power while other aircraft pass them on the taxiway. Another safe procedure would be for ground control to instruct all aircraft in the run-up area to direct their blast away from the taxi area instead of across it. I do not know if the jet aircraft had been positioned as directed by ground control.

Title: PLT OF SMA WAS UPENDED AND GEAR COLLAPSED WHEN TAXIING BEHIND A JET ACFT RUNNING ENGINES FOR TEST.

Narrative: GND CTL CLRED ME TO TAXI TO MY PARKING AREA. I WAS FOLLOWING MY CLRNC TO TAXI AND APPROX 600' DOWN THE TXWY MY ACFT WAS CAUGHT IN A JET BLAST PRODUCED BY AN ACFT TESTING ITS ENGINES IN A RUN-UP AREA. THE FORCE OF THE JET BLAST CAUSED EXCESSIVE LATERAL FORCE ON THE LEFT MAIN GEAR OF MY ACFT CAUSING IT TO COLLAPSE. I WAS ALONE IN THE ACFT AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES OR FIRE. DAMAGE TO MY ACFT IS ESTIMATED TO BE BETWEEN $5000 TO $6000. WHEN MY ACFT CAME TO A STOP, IT WAS STILL ON THE TXWY, UPRIGHT AND TURNED APPROX 80 DEG TO THE LEFT OF THE TXWY HDG. I SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE AND INFORMED GND CTL OF THE INCIDENT, ASKED THAT THEY CALL MY FBO FOR ASSISTANCE AND SAID THAT I WAS EXITING THE ACFT. I RECEIVED NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM GND CTL. I TURNED OFF ALL SWITCHES AND EXITED THE ACFT. THE FBO JACKED UP THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ACFT, REPOSITIONED THE GEAR, SAFETY WIRED IT IN PLACE AND TOWED IT TO THEIR HANGAR. DURING TAXI THE RUN-UP AREA WAS DIRECTLY TOWARD THE SETTING SUN, AND I SAW THE JET MOMENTARILY BEFORE ENTERING ITS BLAST. NO WARNING WAS GIVEN TO ME BY GND CTL. THE ACFT DOING THE RUN-UP WAS IN CONTACT WITH GND CTL AND WAS NOT ASKED TO REDUCE POWER. THE JET CREW HAD AN OUTSIDE OBSERVER IN TOUCH WITH THE COCKPIT, HOWEVER, HE DID NOT WARN THE CREW OF MY APCH. I AM INFORMED THAT THIS IS NOT A REPORTABLE ACCIDENT TO THE NTSB AND NO REPORT HAS BEEN MADE TO THEM. THE RUN-UP AREA IS SITUATED AT RIGHT ANGLES TO THE TXWY AND THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED BY CLOSING THE TXWY WHILE LARGE ACFT ARE PERFORMING RUN-UPS. IF NOT CLOSED, GND CTL SHOULD INSTRUCT THE RUN-UP ACFT TO REDUCE POWER WHILE OTHER ACFT PASS THEM ON THE TXWY. ANOTHER SAFE PROC WOULD BE FOR GND CTL TO INSTRUCT ALL ACFT IN THE RUN-UP AREA TO DIRECT THEIR BLAST AWAY FROM THE TAXI AREA INSTEAD OF ACROSS IT. I DO NOT KNOW IF THE JET ACFT HAD BEEN POSITIONED AS DIRECTED BY GND CTL.
