Narrative:
After pushing [another aircraft]; a fellow employee that was working the gate with me told me everything was setup for the tow over to [another] gate. I hooked up the tow bar not verifying that there was a bypass pin in because I was told everything was set up; but I should have verified that it was. Another employee started [to] tow the plane and the main gear snapped the tow bar on the main gear.
Original NASA ASRS Text
