Narrative:

On departure from jfk runway 31L, breezy point departure, turned left to 240 degrees direct to canarsie VOR (cri). Tower was late switching us to departure. We were indicating over cri VOR and starting our turn to the outbnd radial when departure control contact was made and they indicated that we were 6 mi east of the VOR. We were given 250 degree heading to fly for climb. Our indicators had us over the VOR while departure indicated that we were 6 mi east of the VOR. No other navigation discrepancies were observed through the remainder of the flts.

Title: FLT CREW CONCERNED WITH ACFT POSITION AS REPORTED BY DEP CTLR. HAD NO INDICATION OF NAVIGATION ERROR OR PROBLEM FORM ON BOARD FMS ON SID DEP. HAD A LATE CONTACT HANDOFF TO DEP CTL.

WE WERE INDICATING OVER CRI VOR AND STARTING OUR TURN TO THE OUTBND RADIAL WHEN DEP CTL CONTACT WAS MADE AND THEY INDICATED THAT WE WERE 6 MI E OF THE VOR. WE WERE GIVEN 250 DEG HDG TO FLY FOR CLB. OUR INDICATORS HAD US OVER THE VOR WHILE DEP INDICATED THAT WE WERE 6 MI E OF THE VOR. NO OTHER NAVIGATION DISCREPANCIES WERE OBSERVED THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE FLTS.
