Narrative:

Jetbridge was extended for overnight maintenance and not returned to the stow box prior to flight arrival. Flight was marshaled in and the number 1 engine struck the jetway damaging the engine. During the investigation employees disclosed the lighting levels are poor and the jetway stow box was faded which was a contributing factor in this damage.

Title: An air carrier ground employee reported a jet bridge was not returned to the stow box after maintenance and was struck by a parking aircraft.

Narrative: Jetbridge was extended for overnight maintenance and not returned to the stow box prior to flight arrival. Flight was marshaled in and the number 1 engine struck the jetway damaging the engine. During the investigation employees disclosed the lighting levels are poor and the jetway stow box was faded which was a contributing factor in this damage.
