Narrative:

When on approach the gear did not come down. After returning to stl and emergency extending the gear, the gear problem was not written up in the aircraft maintenance manual. I would suggest that after a situation as above occurred, that a mechanic, the PIC and the sic all situation down and jointly write the problem up. This I believe should be done on all write-ups, no matter how small, to ensure that all writeups never get forgotten.

Title: COMMUTER ACFT ON APCH TO SPI WAS UNABLE TO EXTEND THE LNDG GEAR. ACFT RETURNED TO STL, BUT FLT CREW DID NOT WRITE UP THE PROBLEM IN THE ACFT LOG.

Narrative: WHEN ON APCH THE GEAR DID NOT COME DOWN. AFTER RETURNING TO STL AND EMER EXTENDING THE GEAR, THE GEAR PROB WAS NOT WRITTEN UP IN THE ACFT MAINT MANUAL. I WOULD SUGGEST THAT AFTER A SITUATION AS ABOVE OCCURRED, THAT A MECH, THE PIC AND THE SIC ALL SIT DOWN AND JOINTLY WRITE THE PROB UP. THIS I BELIEVE SHOULD BE DONE ON ALL WRITE-UPS, NO MATTER HOW SMALL, TO ENSURE THAT ALL WRITEUPS NEVER GET FORGOTTEN.
