Narrative:

Ldg runway 25R lax, taxi left turn taxiway 24 told to cross 25L, contact ground. After crossing 25L I held short of taxiway F on 24--ground frequency was saturated!!! Both frequencys combined (due to shortage of controllers per lax tower). Unable to jump into frequency to request taxi. While waiting my cabin and aircraft lit up I knew something big was coming close. I then taxied wbound on foxtrot only to see the widebody transport taxiing right by me. I don't think they even saw me, or they would have stopped. Post flight I called lax tower landline. They said they were sorry. We need more man power at all ATC positions!!! A catastrophe is just waiting to happen. Please do something...please!

Title: NEAR COLLISION ON GND BETWEEN SMT AND WDB CAUSED BY APPARENT SATURATION OF ATC GND CTLR FREQ.

BOTH FREQS COMBINED (DUE TO SHORTAGE OF CTLRS PER LAX TWR). UNABLE TO JUMP INTO FREQ TO REQUEST TAXI. WHILE WAITING MY CABIN AND ACFT LIT UP I KNEW SOMETHING BIG WAS COMING CLOSE. I THEN TAXIED WBOUND ON FOXTROT ONLY TO SEE THE WDB TAXIING RIGHT BY ME. I DON'T THINK THEY EVEN SAW ME, OR THEY WOULD HAVE STOPPED. POST FLT I CALLED LAX TWR LANDLINE. THEY SAID THEY WERE SORRY. WE NEED MORE MAN PWR AT ALL ATC POSITIONS!!! A CATASTROPHE IS JUST WAITING TO HAPPEN. PLEASE DO SOMETHING...PLEASE!
