Narrative:
After telling tys tower I was ready to depart runway 23L I was informed that I had crossed the hold short line without proper clearance. I was told to return to the proper side of the line and await clearance to take off. I did as directed; was cleared to depart with no further incident.a factor that contributed to my unintentional violation is the fact that the hold short line was not clearly noticeable due to the very weathered paint of the line and the late afternoon light condition in late november. I suggest repainting the line and becoming more alert looking for the line. No added training is necessary.
