Narrative:

Contacted tower and was told plan for landing on 28. As I touched down it felt like unusual gust or side load and I immediately aborted the landing in lieu of runway 18. The wind was reported on ATIS 210, 10 KTS. On takeoff I believe the wind gust and hasty throttle control caused the plane to veer to left and clip a runway light, inflicting minor damage to the airplane horizontal stabilizer and elevator. In hindsight, although I have practiced crosswind lndgs, it would have been better to turn runway 28 down and ask for 18. Also as time and money provides, it would seem a good idea to change runway lights in some way to make them more safe for all concerned.
