Narrative:

On the lynxx five arrival to burbank, we were cleared to cross 10 mi east of palmdale VOR at and to maintain 14,000'. As we descended through 14,5000', we were given an immediate climb to 15,000'. The controller then stated we had a conflict, and that our clearance had been to descend to 16,000'. I do not believe that we were given a clearance to 16,000'. I do, however, remember the controller giving a 16,000' clearance to an aircraft with a similar flight number. When we received our 14,000' clearance, we read it back as 14,000'. The controller did not correct us to say it was 16,000'.

Narrative: ON THE LYNXX FIVE ARRIVAL TO BURBANK, WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS 10 MI E OF PALMDALE VOR AT AND TO MAINTAIN 14,000'. AS WE DESCENDED THROUGH 14,5000', WE WERE GIVEN AN IMMEDIATE CLIMB TO 15,000'. THE CTLR THEN STATED WE HAD A CONFLICT, AND THAT OUR CLRNC HAD BEEN TO DSND TO 16,000'. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT WE WERE GIVEN A CLRNC TO 16,000'. I DO, HOWEVER, REMEMBER THE CTLR GIVING A 16,000' CLRNC TO AN ACFT WITH A SIMILAR FLT NUMBER. WHEN WE RECEIVED OUR 14,000' CLRNC, WE READ IT BACK AS 14,000'. THE CTLR DID NOT CORRECT US TO SAY IT WAS 16,000'.
