Narrative:

I was about #7 or 8 for takeoff at midway airport in line on the taxiway leading to runway 22L. I was following an medium large transport in front of me and was creeping up behind him, getting closer to the end of the runway. Because of the extensive ground delay, I asked tower how much longer. He advised, 'a few minutes, pull up behind the medium large transport, you'll be going right out'. As I got closer to the end of 22L, and the medium large transport ahead of me took the runway, I wondered where the hold line was. As I pulled up closer to 22L, and the medium large transport took off, I saw a solid yellow hold line (not dotted) which I held behind. When we were cleared into position on 22L, I saw another medium large transport holding behind a standard dotted and solid yellow hold line about 200' behind me. I began to wonder how it was that I didn't see it. The reason was, because the 1ST medium large transport I was told to follow was covering the line the whole time, hiding it from my view.
