Narrative:

After hearing our tail number and cleared for take off runway 24; we entered the runway and began our take roll. Then tower said aircraft X 'hold on'. I aborted takeoff and turned left of the runway onto taxi way a. Then the controller claimed that I was not cleared for take off. The run up area had 4 aircraft including two jets all staged for take off making for a confusing take off sequence.
