Narrative:

Departed dtw en route to san. About 50 mins out of dtw climbing through FL310. The second officer called attention to a flickering B system pump low pressure light. Examination of the hydraulic panel on the second officer's station showed the following: a system, 2 1/2 gals remaining; B system, 0 gals; standby system, full. Emergency/alternate procedures were followed with the B system pumps turned off and B flight control switches plus the upper yaw dampener turned off. Msp wanted the aircraft in msp, so a redispatch was obtained, clearance from center was receiving rerouting to msp and the aircraft was descended to FL240 at 280 KTS. Passenger were told of the rerouting and the reason for this in as low-key a manner as possible. The lead F/a was questioned about passenger concern and stated that no one seemed alarmed and that everyone seemed at ease with the situation. Since a landing at msp would have been made overweight, we received clearance from center to dump fuel on the judos arrival into msp, and we subsequently dumped 15000 pounds notifying center beginning and ending dumping. We also told the passenger of the fuel dumping and the reason for it. WX at msp was VFR. No emergency was declared. The landing was uneventful after a visibility approach to runway 11L.

Title: LGT HAD LOSS OF HYDRAULIC FLUID AND PRESSURE AT FL310. REROUTED TO MSP FOR MAINTENANCE. DUMPED FUEL AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT.

Narrative: DEPARTED DTW ENRTE TO SAN. ABOUT 50 MINS OUT OF DTW CLBING THROUGH FL310. THE S/O CALLED ATTN TO A FLICKERING B SYS PUMP LOW PRESSURE LIGHT. EXAMINATION OF THE HYD PANEL ON THE S/O'S STATION SHOWED THE FOLLOWING: A SYS, 2 1/2 GALS REMAINING; B SYS, 0 GALS; STANDBY SYS, FULL. EMER/ALTERNATE PROCS WERE FOLLOWED WITH THE B SYS PUMPS TURNED OFF AND B FLT CTL SWITCHES PLUS THE UPPER YAW DAMPENER TURNED OFF. MSP WANTED THE ACFT IN MSP, SO A REDISPATCH WAS OBTAINED, CLRNC FROM CENTER WAS RECEIVING REROUTING TO MSP AND THE ACFT WAS DSNDED TO FL240 AT 280 KTS. PAX WERE TOLD OF THE REROUTING AND THE REASON FOR THIS IN AS LOW-KEY A MANNER AS POSSIBLE. THE LEAD F/A WAS QUESTIONED ABOUT PAX CONCERN AND STATED THAT NO ONE SEEMED ALARMED AND THAT EVERYONE SEEMED AT EASE WITH THE SITUATION. SINCE A LNDG AT MSP WOULD HAVE BEEN MADE OVERWEIGHT, WE RECEIVED CLRNC FROM CENTER TO DUMP FUEL ON THE JUDOS ARR INTO MSP, AND WE SUBSEQUENTLY DUMPED 15000 LBS NOTIFYING CENTER BEGINNING AND ENDING DUMPING. WE ALSO TOLD THE PAX OF THE FUEL DUMPING AND THE REASON FOR IT. WX AT MSP WAS VFR. NO EMER WAS DECLARED. THE LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL AFTER A VIS APCH TO RWY 11L.
