Narrative:

Air carrier X was northbound from ilm to the ny area. We gave him direct orf, cutting the corner through west 122, which we showed as inactive. Giant killer called to ask who aircraft was and what he was doing in west 122. We told them and I said we showed the area as cold. Giant killer said the area had been released to them at 0000Z, and they had fgt's in west 122 and pointed them out to me. One was only 10 mi east of air carrier X. We turned the aircraft away from west 122 to the west. The area supervisor was told of situation. We considered west 122 hot ufa. 2 hours later area supervisor still wasn't sure of status of west 122.
