Narrative:

Approaching jax runway 7 on a left base, the left autoplt was disconnected and an immediate left wing down input was noticed. On final approach it took right aileron to maintain the proper course. A normal landing was made. Jax maintenance made a thorough inspection and complete flight control check. No irregularities were found. I then called the maintenance coordinator in atl and discussed the situation at length. He felt the problem was due to the left autoplt as the problem started when it was disengaged. He advised that it was ok to proceed on to ft lauderdale, to not use the left autoplt, but to use the right autoplt. An uneventful takeoff and climb were made until FL180 when a heavy vertical vibration was noted throughout the entire aircraft. Airspeed was reduced from 320 KTS to 250 KTS with the vibration stopping at approximately 285 KTS. The aircraft was leveled at FL180. All engines EICAS, flight controls and trim parameters were observed with no abnormalities. Flight control and the maintenance coordinator were called. They advised me to stay at the reduced airspeed and altitude and that they were going to alert fll crash crew. I advised ZJX to request the fort lauderdale crash crew but that I was not declaring an emergency. An uneventful landing was made in fort lauderdale. I do not believe these 2 problems to be related. Note: the vertical vibration was attributed to a worn elevator control rod. The aileron input has not been determined.

Title: NEW MODEL LGT EXPERIENCED VIBRATION AT FL180. ACFT SLOWED TO 250 KIAS, MADE NORMAL LNDG AT NEXT POINT OF LNDG.

Narrative: APCHING JAX RWY 7 ON A LEFT BASE, THE LEFT AUTOPLT WAS DISCONNECTED AND AN IMMEDIATE LEFT WING DOWN INPUT WAS NOTICED. ON FINAL APCH IT TOOK RIGHT AILERON TO MAINTAIN THE PROPER COURSE. A NORMAL LNDG WAS MADE. JAX MAINT MADE A THOROUGH INSPECTION AND COMPLETE FLT CTL CHK. NO IRREGULARITIES WERE FOUND. I THEN CALLED THE MAINT COORDINATOR IN ATL AND DISCUSSED THE SITUATION AT LENGTH. HE FELT THE PROB WAS DUE TO THE LEFT AUTOPLT AS THE PROB STARTED WHEN IT WAS DISENGAGED. HE ADVISED THAT IT WAS OK TO PROCEED ON TO FT LAUDERDALE, TO NOT USE THE LEFT AUTOPLT, BUT TO USE THE RIGHT AUTOPLT. AN UNEVENTFUL TKOF AND CLB WERE MADE UNTIL FL180 WHEN A HEAVY VERT VIBRATION WAS NOTED THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE ACFT. AIRSPD WAS REDUCED FROM 320 KTS TO 250 KTS WITH THE VIBRATION STOPPING AT APPROX 285 KTS. THE ACFT WAS LEVELED AT FL180. ALL ENGS EICAS, FLT CTLS AND TRIM PARAMETERS WERE OBSERVED WITH NO ABNORMALITIES. FLT CTL AND THE MAINT COORDINATOR WERE CALLED. THEY ADVISED ME TO STAY AT THE REDUCED AIRSPD AND ALT AND THAT THEY WERE GOING TO ALERT FLL CRASH CREW. I ADVISED ZJX TO REQUEST THE FORT LAUDERDALE CRASH CREW BUT THAT I WAS NOT DECLARING AN EMER. AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG WAS MADE IN FORT LAUDERDALE. I DO NOT BELIEVE THESE 2 PROBS TO BE RELATED. NOTE: THE VERT VIBRATION WAS ATTRIBUTED TO A WORN ELEVATOR CTL ROD. THE AILERON INPUT HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED.
