Narrative:

A near miss occurred during flight descent phase into dfw. While momentarily leveled at 9000' MSL, a small civilian aircraft (small aircraft red/white) passed within approximately 100' left and above our aircraft. The VFR civilian aircraft took abrupt evasive action to avoid the collision. ATC did not report any traffic prior to the incident nor did the crew have the aircraft visually prior to incident. Approval check was in progress and bright sunlight at 11 O'clock position. ATC was notified of near miss immediately.

Title: CLOSE PROX ACR-LGT GA-SMA OVER BPR VOR.

Narrative: A NEAR MISS OCCURRED DURING FLT DSCNT PHASE INTO DFW. WHILE MOMENTARILY LEVELED AT 9000' MSL, A SMALL CIVILIAN ACFT (SMA RED/WHITE) PASSED WITHIN APPROX 100' LEFT AND ABOVE OUR ACFT. THE VFR CIVILIAN ACFT TOOK ABRUPT EVASIVE ACTION TO AVOID THE COLLISION. ATC DID NOT REPORT ANY TFC PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT NOR DID THE CREW HAVE THE ACFT VISUALLY PRIOR TO INCIDENT. APPROVAL CHECK WAS IN PROGRESS AND BRIGHT SUNLIGHT AT 11 O'CLOCK POSITION. ATC WAS NOTIFIED OF NEAR MISS IMMEDIATELY.
