Narrative:

I was flying the aircraft and captain working radio we both heard 'cross ruane at 10,000' 250 KTS' and captain set 10,000' in the DFGS and I began the descent. I am sure he read back 'cross ruane at 10,000 250 KTS' with no correction by the center controller. While in the descent ZDC handed us off baltimore approach and the bwi controller said 'are you level at 10,000'' to which we replied affirmative. The bwi controller told us the center controller said he cleared us to 11,000'. Then the bwi controller cleared us to 8000' and no more was said about the incident, so hopefully there will be no violation and apparently there was no traffic conflict! One factor I would like to bring out is that this captain said he was new to the aircraft and at times appeared to be unsure of the DFGS operation. He did, however, have extensive medium large transport experience and was competent, but this situation increased my workload by having to 'watch out for two' ie, making sure he programmed the DFGS correctly and accomplished all his required duties, as well as accomplishing my own. This was also complicated by his attitude and apparent dissatisfaction with association, mergers, and new contract.

Title: ACR MLG ALT DEVIATION OVERSHOT DURING DESCENT.

Narrative: I WAS FLYING THE ACFT AND CAPT WORKING RADIO WE BOTH HEARD 'CROSS RUANE AT 10,000' 250 KTS' AND CAPT SET 10,000' IN THE DFGS AND I BEGAN THE DSCNT. I AM SURE HE READ BACK 'CROSS RUANE AT 10,000 250 KTS' WITH NO CORRECTION BY THE CENTER CTLR. WHILE IN THE DSCNT ZDC HANDED US OFF BALTIMORE APCH AND THE BWI CTLR SAID 'ARE YOU LEVEL AT 10,000'' TO WHICH WE REPLIED AFFIRMATIVE. THE BWI CTLR TOLD US THE CENTER CTLR SAID HE CLRED US TO 11,000'. THEN THE BWI CTLR CLRED US TO 8000' AND NO MORE WAS SAID ABOUT THE INCIDENT, SO HOPEFULLY THERE WILL BE NO VIOLATION AND APPARENTLY THERE WAS NO TFC CONFLICT! ONE FACTOR I WOULD LIKE TO BRING OUT IS THAT THIS CAPT SAID HE WAS NEW TO THE ACFT AND AT TIMES APPEARED TO BE UNSURE OF THE DFGS OPERATION. HE DID, HOWEVER, HAVE EXTENSIVE MLG EXPERIENCE AND WAS COMPETENT, BUT THIS SITUATION INCREASED MY WORKLOAD BY HAVING TO 'WATCH OUT FOR TWO' IE, MAKING SURE HE PROGRAMMED THE DFGS CORRECTLY AND ACCOMPLISHED ALL HIS REQUIRED DUTIES, AS WELL AS ACCOMPLISHING MY OWN. THIS WAS ALSO COMPLICATED BY HIS ATTITUDE AND APPARENT DISSATISFACTION WITH ASSOCIATION, MERGERS, AND NEW CONTRACT.
