Narrative:

F/a came to cockpit to request use of emergency medical kit for use by a doctor in the cabin. When the second officer pulled the kit from its storage area, we discovered that the emergency medical kit was in fact a standard first aid kit. Fortunately, the emergency kit was not needed for the medical problem in the cabin. The emergency kit and first aid kits are the same size and same color. When stowed in its carrier the identification on the emk is difficult to see. The emk should be packed in a box a different color from the first aid kit for easier identification.
