Narrative:

During cruise advised by F/a of loud thumping coming from aft baggage bin. Called back to departure point cle and was told they were missing one ramp agent. Decided to divert to ind and investigate. After landing no one found. Probable cause was air in hydraulic lines. All controls cycled repeatedly and noise ceased. I would suggest that on these type aircraft (where bags are loaded by hand) consideration should be given to placing some sort of signalling device or intercom in baggage holds to signal cockpit of a possible problem.
