Narrative:

En route commuter flight wkr (nyaw)-fll. VFR advisory with ZMA. We were descending and told to maintain 3500'. Made mental note of '500 to go' and got distracted by traffic watch. No alert/comment made by copilot. Center came back with 'confirm altitude passing.' we were passing 3000'. Immediately I climbed toward 3500', but center made angry comment and cleared us to 2500' and held us there for long time. Copilot apologized for not noticing altitude, but it was my fault.
