Narrative:

En route to ffu on J-116 from ekr, was cleared to cross 10 mi east of ffu at 15,000'. Read back and set 15,000' on mode control panel altitude window. Upon reaching 15,000, salt lake center said, 'confirm you were cleared to 17,000''. I responded that we had been cleared to 15,000. Center handed us off to salt lake approach without further comment. Communication were 'scratchy' and we asked for a repeat of our descent clearance, and both agreed that it was to 15,000 before it was read back to center. Center did not seem unusually busy and did not correct our 15,000' readback.

Title: ACR MLG ALT DEVIATION OVERSHOT DURING DESCENT.

Narrative: ENRTE TO FFU ON J-116 FROM EKR, WAS CLRED TO CROSS 10 MI EAST OF FFU AT 15,000'. READ BACK AND SET 15,000' ON MODE CONTROL PANEL ALT WINDOW. UPON REACHING 15,000, SALT LAKE CENTER SAID, 'CONFIRM YOU WERE CLRED TO 17,000''. I RESPONDED THAT WE HAD BEEN CLRED TO 15,000. CENTER HANDED US OFF TO SALT LAKE APCH WITHOUT FURTHER COMMENT. COM WERE 'SCRATCHY' AND WE ASKED FOR A REPEAT OF OUR DSCNT CLRNC, AND BOTH AGREED THAT IT WAS TO 15,000 BEFORE IT WAS READ BACK TO CENTER. CENTER DID NOT SEEM UNUSUALLY BUSY AND DID NOT CORRECT OUR 15,000' READBACK.
