Narrative:
Inadvertent entry of mexican airspace, ADIZ. I was flying from the dallas, tx area to tucson, az. I was planning to stop at deming, NM for fuel. Over el paso, tx I programmed my LORAN for deming, NM. After approximately 20 min of flight I discovered that I was in mexico. I checked the longitude and latitude course that I had programmed into the LORAN. They were wrong. I contacted albuquerque center and related my problem. He asked me where I was going. I told him lordsburg (it was closer than deming by now). He told me that I was not on radar, not to worry about it and to be more careful in the future. When I arrived at lordsburg I was met by 4 police cars. They asked to see my paperwork on the plane. Shortly after a customs jet landed my plane was torn apart and our baggage searched. They told me that they had me on radar all the way. I told them that I thought the search and 2 1/2 hour delay was not warranted. I was squawking 1200 with mode C, contacted center and they knew that I did not land. They told me that they would refer this to the FAA. I should have followed my chart more closely. However if center had told me to file a flight plan and land at a customs airport the search and delay could have been stopped. I would suggest that controllers be instructed on current federal laws on ADIZ procedures.
