Narrative:
First officer landed on 31 at ind. During rollout we were cleared, 2 right turns stay with me to the gate. This came while I was verbally assuming control of the aircraft and the first officer rogered the instructions. Ind tower actually said, 2 right turns stay with me hold short of 22. I saw the aircraft on final about 3 mi out prior to crossing 22 which I crossed and proceeded to the gate. We were at the gate prior to the aircraft on final touching down. Rogering a transmission is obviously not the best way to do things and I let it slide since the first officer was brand new and already in one of the higher workload periods. A simple readback may have avoided this.
