Narrative:

During the initial take-off roll; the engines spooled up asymmetrically resulting in significant deviation from centerline with full rudder deflection. The power was retarded to idle and we taxied clear of the runway. The speed at the time that we discontinued the take-off was less than 25 knots. After clearing the runway; we determined that what had happened was a result of not allowing the engines to spool up evenly to 1.10 EPR prior to selecting takeoff thrust. The subsequent take-off was normal. Failure to follow the flight manual procedure for take-off.
