Narrative:
Occurrence 1) upon landing at ord ATC's instructions blocked/missed because of raas [runway alerting and advisory system] warning for an aircraft on short final behind us. Occurrence 2) ATC had us taxi on a runway not being used. Missed ATC exit instructions because of raas broadcasting in our ears. Two separate occurrences in under a minute at the busiest airport in the us. Potentially dangerous situations because of nuisance raas calls. Raas should have a mute button or a way for the pilot to override it.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A CL30 Captain railed against the intrusive nature of RAAS warnings when taxiing on busy airports. Believes flight crew control of warning volume is an acceptable alternative.
