Narrative:

After landing in dfw on 5/wed/89, I left the aircraft to make some phone calls and do my walk around inspection of the aircraft. When I returned I sat down and began eating a crew meal. Halfway through the meal, I was informed that we had a 'fed' on board going back to houston (our return leg, flight Y). I greeted him and told him the whereabouts of the other crew. I volunteered my medical and airman's certificates. I carry them in my flight bag. Upon inspection they were not there. I was relieved of duty on that flight to houston. The company facsimile'ed me FAA copies for use in later flight that afternoon. 4 days later, I learned that my wallet had been found in dallas and that it was en route my home address. On or about jun/xx/89, my wallet with the certificates were back in my possession. The letter from the FAA houston office states that I did not have my certificates in my 'possession' when the flight X arrived at the dfw airport. The fact is that I did not have my certificates when inspected for flight to houston from dfw and that I didn't fly without FAA approved replacements. I contend that I had them, but lost them in dal (dfw) since that's where they were found. Flight arrived dfw XA49 sheduled. Flight departed dfw XB35 sheduled.
