Narrative:

During descent into pdx; pm (pilot monitoring) discovered pdx VOR inoperative. He then queried portland approach about the inoperative VOR. Approach stated the pdx VOR has been decommissioned. The descent and approach briefing included the briefing page referencing 'engine failure procedures; missed approach.' however; all of the single engine missed procedures for the commonly used runways in portland; or; (28L/10R and 28R/10L) are predicated on the use of the pdx VOR. The briefing page procedure needs to be updated; amended; or discontinued. Also; the aircraft release paperwork as well as the pdx arriving aircraft ATIS (503)493-7557 received through ACARS contained no information regarding the pdx VOR deactivation.
