Narrative:

Every time we fly in this area there is excessive radio interference on center frequency 134.97. This problem has been known for a long time and it's very annoying! The interference wears you out by its nature of sound (not voice), its duration at least over 20 minutes, because everyone else starts asking about it. I say we need to assign a new frequency. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: I flew that route last week and we did not have the interference. Previous to that we had experienced it every flight. The center controller said they had been trying to get something done about it for 6 years.
