Narrative:

Clearance was to oak, depart las oasis 5-BEATTY-lidat-direct eca (manteca)-oak; maintain 15000', expect FL31O 10 mins after departure, departure control 118.4, squawk XXXX. After takeoff several different headings were given by departure control and finally a heading was given to intercept 306 degrees to beatty. We were then turned over to another controller (different frequency). After about 10 mins he said that we had crossed over another aircraft which was 1500' below us. We were at 28500' and cleared to 31000'. The controller said we should have told him our heading when we reported in. No further incidents. Further flight was as planned.

Title: WHEN SMT HANDED OFF, CTLR NOT ADVISED HE WAS ON AN ASSIGNED HEADING.

Narrative: CLRNC WAS TO OAK, DEPART LAS OASIS 5-BEATTY-LIDAT-DIRECT ECA (MANTECA)-OAK; MAINTAIN 15000', EXPECT FL31O 10 MINS AFTER DEP, DEP CTL 118.4, SQUAWK XXXX. AFTER TKOF SEVERAL DIFFERENT HDGS WERE GIVEN BY DEP CTL AND FINALLY A HDG WAS GIVEN TO INTERCEPT 306 DEGS TO BEATTY. WE WERE THEN TURNED OVER TO ANOTHER CTLR (DIFFERENT FREQ). AFTER ABOUT 10 MINS HE SAID THAT WE HAD CROSSED OVER ANOTHER ACFT WHICH WAS 1500' BELOW US. WE WERE AT 28500' AND CLRED TO 31000'. THE CTLR SAID WE SHOULD HAVE TOLD HIM OUR HDG WHEN WE RPTED IN. NO FURTHER INCIDENTS. FURTHER FLT WAS AS PLANNED.
