Narrative:

After landing at iah 14L, ground control cleared my flight large transport X to our gate 11 terminal 'C'. Upon arrival in the terminal 'a' area on taxiway west.B., we were blocked by an large transport Y flight on taxiway west.east. It was being given progressive taxi instructions to his gate. Both aircraft stopped short of each other as clearance narrowed. Ground informed us that we were to yield to large transport Y in an earlier call, however this was never received nor acknowledged by my crew. Ground control requested large transport Y to alter left, since considerable empty ramp space existed at this intersection for him to maneuver, he refused and requested we be towed clear. Ground requested if we could clear the aircraft. We responded and deviated left around the large transport Y. After clearing and well past the large transport Y they reported we had departed the taxiway. This was definitely not true and would be impossible for him to observe anyway. 1) combination problem-call to yield to large transport Y never received nor acknowledged. Request read back if not acknowledged by aircraft. 2) large transport Y blockage of intersection and refusal to taxi into a clear area even after requested by ground control. Brief large transport Y airline crews on common professional courtesy. 3) underlying hostility of large transport Y crew for us and houston airport operations. Brief large transport Y crews on professional airmanship. 4) re-evaluate the intersection for new taxi lines with better aircraft clearance.

Title: TXWY BLOCKAGE. ACFT FAILED TO YIELD TO TAXIING ACFT. MISSED YIELD COMMUNICATION.

Narrative: AFTER LNDG AT IAH 14L, GND CTL CLRED MY FLT LGT X TO OUR GATE 11 TERMINAL 'C'. UPON ARRIVAL IN THE TERMINAL 'A' AREA ON TXWY W.B., WE WERE BLOCKED BY AN LGT Y FLT ON TXWY W.E. IT WAS BEING GIVEN PROGRESSIVE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS TO HIS GATE. BOTH ACFT STOPPED SHORT OF EACH OTHER AS CLRNC NARROWED. GND INFORMED US THAT WE WERE TO YIELD TO LGT Y IN AN EARLIER CALL, HOWEVER THIS WAS NEVER RECEIVED NOR ACKNOWLEDGED BY MY CREW. GND CTL REQUESTED LGT Y TO ALTER LEFT, SINCE CONSIDERABLE EMPTY RAMP SPACE EXISTED AT THIS INTXN FOR HIM TO MANEUVER, HE REFUSED AND REQUESTED WE BE TOWED CLEAR. GND REQUESTED IF WE COULD CLEAR THE ACFT. WE RESPONDED AND DEVIATED LEFT AROUND THE LGT Y. AFTER CLEARING AND WELL PAST THE LGT Y THEY REPORTED WE HAD DEPARTED THE TXWY. THIS WAS DEFINITELY NOT TRUE AND WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR HIM TO OBSERVE ANYWAY. 1) COMBINATION PROBLEM-CALL TO YIELD TO LGT Y NEVER RECEIVED NOR ACKNOWLEDGED. REQUEST READ BACK IF NOT ACKNOWLEDGED BY ACFT. 2) LGT Y BLOCKAGE OF INTXN AND REFUSAL TO TAXI INTO A CLEAR AREA EVEN AFTER REQUESTED BY GND CTL. BRIEF LGT Y AIRLINE CREWS ON COMMON PROFESSIONAL COURTESY. 3) UNDERLYING HOSTILITY OF LGT Y CREW FOR US AND HOUSTON ARPT OPERATIONS. BRIEF LGT Y CREWS ON PROFESSIONAL AIRMANSHIP. 4) RE-EVALUATE THE INTXN FOR NEW TAXI LINES WITH BETTER ACFT CLRNC.
