Narrative:

En route to fsm from hut and on the ground I contacted little rock FSS for a standard briefing and specific information on the restr airspace near ft smith R2401 and R2402. In my briefing I was told the airspace was not active. I also tried to listen to ATIS for information about the areas but the wrong frequency is printed on the VFR sectional! I was unable to reach the tower for information and the approach frequency was to be found on the ATIS frequency. Due to haze and sun in my face going west in the afternoon it was hard to keep up with my exact position. But my VOR showed that I was on V74 wbound and established on the radial. I dug up the AFD and found the approach frequency. I decided to call them right away since I was in the TRSA outer limits by now. I was issued a squawk and informed I was in R2402 and told to turn northbound. I complied promptly and flew approximately 20 seconds when I was told I had exited the restr area. My equipment still showed established on V74, but vision was obscured so that visibility chkpoints were difficult to see. I then continued on into fsm for a landing. I feel that incomplete information from FSS on my briefing--the incorrect ATIS misprint on the sectional, as well as hazy WX contributed to the reported entrance of restr airspace, although I feel I was still north of it. I think that V74 could be moved more north with a dog leg to miss the restr areas better, and the full set of frequencys for ft smith should be printed clearly. I was told by fsm approach I should have been in contact, but radio in the TRSA is not mandatory and therefore FSS should be better informed.

Title: PENETRATION OF RESTRICTED AREA.

Narrative: ENRTE TO FSM FROM HUT AND ON THE GND I CONTACTED LITTLE ROCK FSS FOR A STANDARD BRIEFING AND SPECIFIC INFO ON THE RESTR AIRSPACE NEAR FT SMITH R2401 AND R2402. IN MY BRIEFING I WAS TOLD THE AIRSPACE WAS NOT ACTIVE. I ALSO TRIED TO LISTEN TO ATIS FOR INFO ABOUT THE AREAS BUT THE WRONG FREQ IS PRINTED ON THE VFR SECTIONAL! I WAS UNABLE TO REACH THE TWR FOR INFO AND THE APCH FREQ WAS TO BE FOUND ON THE ATIS FREQ. DUE TO HAZE AND SUN IN MY FACE GOING W IN THE AFTERNOON IT WAS HARD TO KEEP UP WITH MY EXACT POS. BUT MY VOR SHOWED THAT I WAS ON V74 WBOUND AND ESTABLISHED ON THE RADIAL. I DUG UP THE AFD AND FOUND THE APCH FREQ. I DECIDED TO CALL THEM RIGHT AWAY SINCE I WAS IN THE TRSA OUTER LIMITS BY NOW. I WAS ISSUED A SQUAWK AND INFORMED I WAS IN R2402 AND TOLD TO TURN NBND. I COMPLIED PROMPTLY AND FLEW APPROX 20 SECS WHEN I WAS TOLD I HAD EXITED THE RESTR AREA. MY EQUIP STILL SHOWED ESTABLISHED ON V74, BUT VISION WAS OBSCURED SO THAT VIS CHKPOINTS WERE DIFFICULT TO SEE. I THEN CONTINUED ON INTO FSM FOR A LNDG. I FEEL THAT INCOMPLETE INFO FROM FSS ON MY BRIEFING--THE INCORRECT ATIS MISPRINT ON THE SECTIONAL, AS WELL AS HAZY WX CONTRIBUTED TO THE RPTED ENTRANCE OF RESTR AIRSPACE, ALTHOUGH I FEEL I WAS STILL N OF IT. I THINK THAT V74 COULD BE MOVED MORE N WITH A DOG LEG TO MISS THE RESTR AREAS BETTER, AND THE FULL SET OF FREQS FOR FT SMITH SHOULD BE PRINTED CLEARLY. I WAS TOLD BY FSM APCH I SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT, BUT RADIO IN THE TRSA IS NOT MANDATORY AND THEREFORE FSS SHOULD BE BETTER INFORMED.
