Narrative:

AFDS/FMC caused aircraft to accelerate to approximately 285K below 10,000' (approximately 9500' MSL). Crew distracted by other duties or corrective action could have been made sooner. There is no alert if AFDS fails. No speed was indicated in window. Could not set bug with AFDS speed knob. Aircraft was flown manually with no other incident.
