Narrative:

As I approached the chari V-261 I contacted ZKC for direct pawnee city VOR. I was cleared direct maintain 7000 MSL. I turned to a direct course and then received an ATC clearance to turn right heading 090 immediately. I was told that my heading was entering a restr airspace. I complied with my last clearance and told the controller what my clearance was. He reconfirmed direct pwe 7000. Shortly thereafter I was switched to minneapolis ARTCC. No further conflict developed and the flight went to completion with no conflict. Although I feel my clearance was completely clear, possibly for future reference the pilot/controller should be vectored or deviate east before proceeding on course northeast direct.
