Narrative:

After being cleared for a visual approach; with aircraft at 2;000 feet and 6 DME; intercepting final approach; autopilot was disconnected at which time the ailerons were found to be extremely stiff. Because of the proximity to landing and the aircraft being configured for same; I determined that there was no time to waste declaring an emergency and that using the time to have a crew plan was the best option. We were also concerned that the unknown cause might grow worse. Landing was made with no incident; maintenance was notified and debriefed.
