Narrative:

We had just leveled off at FL340 with the power still in climb setting in order to accelerate to cruise speed. I noticed speed was slowing through 165 IAS instead of accelerating. I put my hand on the yoke; and went to adjust the nose down to pick up airspeed. At that time a stick shaker activated; and then went to pusher. I cancelled the autopilot disconnect warning chime and looked at my engines which were all green. However; I saw 2 engine oil cas messages; and I reached up and turned on the continuous ignition. During the stall recovery; I saw the 'flight spoilers' cas message. The first officer called for nose down to recover more speed. I called for an emergency declaration. Also; when I saw the flight spoilers cas; N1 was at 20%; I called for engine failure inflight QRH. Center had given us a descent to FL240. The first officer ran the QRH. When it came to the point of restart; the N2 was at 1.2%; and then it went to 0.0 %; so we did the catastrophic failure checklist. Center asked where we wanted to go. The controller suggested ZZZ; which was ahead about 60 to 70 miles. I then called the flight attendant in back to see if she and all the passengers were okay. She said yes. I then notified the company of our situation; and that we were diverting to ZZZ. The first officer ran the descent checklist; single engine landing checklist; which we did. When we landed at ZZZ; the fire crew checked over our aircraft; and gave us the thumbs up.

Title: CRJ200 flight crew experiences an engine failure when leveling off at FL340 that goes undetected until the airspeed gets very low. Before the Captain can take action stick shaker is activated then stick pusher. An emergency is declared and once airspeed is recovered N2 is noted to be zero and the engine is shutdown. Flight diverts to the nearest suitable airport.
